The Post Office Proposal

A couple of weeks ago one of The Creativity Manifesto found this Post office sign discarded on the street, (probably due to Governments' sad closures of local community branches, after much creative debate and discussion we agreed to contact to the Post Office to see if they would consider sponsoring a small community art event/exhibition, during which we would exhibit the sign (which illuminates an entire room with a red glow when plugged in) as a "Ready-made" piece of art in the same manner as Marcel Duchamp's "Urinal" by R.Mutt. Of course our creative and social intention would be around the fact that the closure of local Post Office branches is a direct indication of how Government social policy is actively contributing to the loss of social bonds and Community cohesion. We await the response of the P.O with baited breath.

Whenever I think about the Post Now, my first thought is of the Government Scandal who ruined the lives of hundreds of Sub-Post Officers by falsely accusing them of fraud, and even wrongly imprisoning them. It's was a shocking and terrible injustice caused by the machinery of Government, which should be off serious concern to us all! Who will prove our innocence, or come to our rescue if something similar happens to us!? If they can accuse some of the most trustworthy and responsible people in Society of mass fraud and financial crimes, imagine what the bureaucratic Machinery of Government could wrongly do to. It's such a tragic shame, as before this scandal my first thought when thinking of the Post Office, was off a lovely traditional community centred institution where I often bumped into local people and had a quick chat while paying a bill or buying stamps, or sending a parcel. Everything is being closed down now, Post Offices, Libraries, Youth & Community centres, where are people supposed to meet and foster that ever decreasing face to face community social interactions essential for human connections, mental health and well-being? Online!? I'm online now! Is this my new reality of being a whole creative human being!? Is this my future? Figuring out how to use emojis over real emotions in real life!? πŸ˜¬πŸ€”πŸ€¨πŸ₯ΊπŸ™
